My herbal practice

Herbalism is the knowledge and practice of healing with medicinal herbs
Herbalism is a radical, grassroots healing practice that centres the relationship between humans and plants, harnessing the healing power of nature
Herbalism is a holistic form of health care, comprehensive in its assessment of the individual and their physical, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual health
What to expect
My practice is for anyone who wishes to work with the transformative power of plant medicine and engage in holistic herbal health care; it is trauma-informed, trans-affirming and queer safe. Sexual and intimate health
-
Post-infection syndromes eg long-COVID and ME/CFS
-
Substance use within a harm-reduction framework
The ‘social’
-
Gender and trans-affirming Queer, LGBTQIA+ and Takatāpui healthcare
-
Healthy ageing
-
Health promotion
-
Preventative health
Consultation appointments
An initial consultation appointment involves a comprehensive discussion and health history, to gain a thorough understanding of your needs and goals. After this appointment I will undertake research relevant to your situation and spend time formulating a plan with my recommendations, combining herbal medicine, nutrition and lifestyle advice, which I will email to you within a week after the initial appointment. Any herbal medicines I prescribe to you as part of my recommendations can then be purchased and sent out to you.
At the return appointment, we will discuss how the recommendations and/or herbal prescription has been working for, and you can ask any questions you may have. It is always entirely your choice as to what, if any, recommendations you choose to follow, or what prescriptions you may choose to purchase. Further appointments can be scheduled as needed, usually every few weeks, for as long as you require.

Herbal prescription
I work with herbal tinctures (liquid herbal extracts), dried herbs, topical applications like salves and creams and herbal tablets. All prescriptions are custom-formulated for each individual client.

Shared care and collaboration
I work within my scope of practice as a Herbalist, working with herbal medicine, nutrition and lifestyle advice, as well as engaging in the important work, if not the most important work, of holding space for folks. I work with and collaborate with your General Practitioner and any other health professionals you are being treated by, and work alongside any treatments you are receiving, and may suggest referrals to other health professionals where a need is identified.

Community herbalism
In providing an accessible service, I offer at-home community consultation appointments in the privacy of your own home (as well as online appointments) to expand access to herbal health care to more people.
Plans for other forms of community herbalism are in the pipeline.
